So this is my first week of teaching, and it has gone pretty well so far. My kids are so well behaved (I'm pretty sure they are just nervous). I have kids from all sorts of backgrounds; one from Ethiopia, many from Mexico, one from India, and the majority from Atlanta. There are kids from wealthy families and kids who live in the projects. It is going to be challenging to meet all of their needs, but I will try very hard! Today the kids were assigned lockers, and there were some children that took an HOUR to open a locker!! It was such an experience watching them open their lockers! I had to argue with a few to convince them I knew how to do it. Today I also had a student ask me what happens if he throws up in class?? You never know with middle schoolers I guess:) However, so far so good. TGIF!
